Forty-four plushies. All Ditto. All $19.99. All timed to the launch of Pokemon Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokemon Center collection dropped alongside the game on March 5 and some pieces have already sold out. If you know the Ditto plush line, you know that matters. Rare older versions like the Ditto-as-Gloom are hitting $200 on eBay right now.

This is the largest Ditto plush drop Pokemon Center has ever done. And at $19.99 per piece, it's priced to move.

The Pokopia Connection

Pokemon Pokopia launched March 5 on Nintendo Switch 2 at $69.99. It's a life sim developed by Game Freak and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force. The hook is that you play as Ditto transformed into a human, living among Pokemon. It supports 1-4 players and it's already the highest-rated Pokemon game on Metacritic.

Game Freak reportedly assembled its largest development team ever for the title. Omega Force, the studio behind Dynasty Warriors, handled the production side. The result is the first Pokemon game in years that critics actually love without caveats.

The plush collection is the merch tie-in. Every plushie is a Ditto-transformed-as version of another Pokemon. Same derpy Ditto face. Different body. It's the game's central mechanic turned into stuffed animals. Smart move.

The Full Eevee Evolution Set

The collection includes Eevee and every single one of its evolutions as Ditto transformations. That's nine plushies just for the Eeveelution set alone. Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon. All with the signature Ditto face.

For Eeveelution collectors, this is the first time every evolution has been available simultaneously in a single plush line. That alone is driving demand.

New Additions and Returning Favorites

The drop includes several brand-new additions to the Ditto plush line. Squirtle, Furret, Absol, and Misdreavus are all first-timers. Each one runs 5 to 9 inches depending on the Pokemon.

Returning favorites include Magikarp, Lucario, Gengar, Dragonite, Magnemite, Shaymin, Morelull, Umbreon, Mimikyu, Gloom, Trubbish, and Vaporeon. Some of these were previously limited releases that disappeared for months before this restock.

That Gloom plush is the one to watch. Earlier versions of the Ditto Gloom have been selling on eBay for around $200. If this restock dries up, expect the same trajectory.

The $19.99 Problem

Here's the thing every Pokemon Center shopper already knows. Free shipping kicks in at $20. These plushies are $19.99. One penny short.

That means buying a single plush costs you shipping on top of the $19.99. You either buy two to clear the threshold or you eat the shipping fee for one. It's a small thing. But it's the kind of small thing that Pokemon Center does constantly. And collectors notice.

The math pushes you toward buying multiples. Which is probably the point.

The Preorder Bonus You Missed

If you preordered Pokopia before February 25, you got a Ditto Sitting Cuties plush as a bonus. That window is closed. The Sitting Cuties line is one of Pokemon Center's most collected plush series, and a Ditto-specific one that was only available as a preorder bonus is going to have a short supply and a long aftermarket life.

No word yet on whether it'll get a standalone release. If it doesn't, expect secondary prices to climb once the initial batch ships to preorder customers.

What's Next for Pokopia

The game's first limited-time event, "More Spores for Hoppip," runs March 9 through March 24. It's the kind of seasonal content that keeps players engaged and merch relevant. If Game Freak and Pokemon Center follow the same playbook they've used with other titles, expect event-specific plush and merchandise to follow.

The Collector Takeaway

Forty-four plushies at $19.99 each is a $879.56 full set before shipping. Nobody's buying all 44. But the individual pieces that sell out first are the ones that'll carry secondary value. The new additions and the complete Eeveelution set are the targets.

The Ditto plush line has a track record. Limited runs sell out. Sold-out runs appreciate. The $200 Gloom proves the pattern. At $19.99 retail, the downside risk is a stuffed animal. The upside is a plush that triples in value once Pokemon Center stops making it.
