We just launched Liquidity Tiers - a scoring system that shows you how fast items sell on Nerdbase marketplaces.
The Problem
You're looking at two items. Same character. Similar grade. Close price.
Which one sells faster?
Without market data, you're guessing. Liquidity matters for buyers (can I flip this?) and sellers (will this move quickly?).
Enter Liquidity Tiers
Every product now shows a liquidity tier based on sales velocity:
How We Calculate It
The algorithm looks at sales velocity across three time windows:
More frequent sales = higher liquidity tier.
Example:
Simple. Transparent. Data-driven.
Why This Matters
For Buyers:
Know what moves fast vs. what sits. If you're buying to flip, liquidity matters. Liquid items = easier exit.
For Sellers:
Price smarter. Liquid items can command premium pricing. Rare items might need patience or aggressive pricing.
For Everyone:
Better market transparency. You're not flying blind.
Where You'll See It
Liquidity tiers show up:
Real-World Use Cases
Scenario 1: Buying to Flip
You see two similar slabs. One is Liquid (sells 3x/month). One is Rare (hasn't sold in 90 days).
Both priced at $100. Which do you buy?
The Liquid one moves faster. Lower hold time. Easier exit.
Scenario 2: Pricing Your Listing
You're selling a Steady-tier item (1 sale/month). You know it will move, but not instantly.
Price slightly below recent comps to capture the next buyer.
Scenario 3: Long-Term Hold
You collect for passion, not profit. Rare tier doesn't matter. You're holding forever.
Liquidity tiers help you understand market dynamics, even if you're not trading.
The Data Advantage
Nerdbase marketplaces aggregate sales data across all our verticals. More data = better liquidity signals.
As we add more verticals (Nerdworth, Sugrworth, etc.), liquidity tiers get smarter.
What's Next
This is V1. We're already thinking about:
The goal: give you the market intelligence to make better decisions.
